Redmine AdiIRC - Feature #4166 (New): Quick Switchhttps://dev.adiirc.com/issues/41662018-10-24T17:15:58ZKrystinalynn Maria

This is purely a suggestion and doesn't need to be implemented. But it might be something useful if it were.

A quick switch function, where pressing a certain key combo (like alt+g) would bring up a small input box in the center of the client window. As users type into the input box, a list of open windows (chan, custom, privmsg, server) is presented and filtered down as the user types until a match is found. When the user hits the enter key, the input is immediately dismissed and focus is switched to the suggested window. A function like this would be immensely useful for any user who is connected to two or more networks.

For privmsg and channel windows, they would be appended with the server window name (I.E: for a privmsg to QueenElsa on Undernet, the suggested list would display Undernet.QueenElsa; for a channel #adiirc on Freenode, it'd display Freenode.#adiirc)

The quick switch would honor the user's network name from the server list. (If the use label as network name option is enabled for that given network.)

Anyway, just some food for thought for the future. :)
AdiIRC - Bug #4165 (New): Network Label Color limitationshttps://dev.adiirc.com/issues/41652018-10-24T17:06:34ZKrystinalynn Maria

In the servers list, you are given the ability to "name" each connection and the option to use the given name as the label for that connection in place of whatever the network provides.

Example, Undernet's ircd.conf defines the network name as UnderNET. This can be overridden in AdiIRC by using the label as the network name. So you could, for example call it AwesomeNet.

That brings me to to the minor issue I've noticed. You can set colors when renaming that connection. The colors will appear in highlight messages and the monitor windows. It will not, however, appear on the Treebar or the Status bar.

I could be wrong, but this seems like it'd be a quick fix. I included a screencap. Hope it helps.
AdiIRC - Feature #3728 (Assigned): Channel Iconshttps://dev.adiirc.com/issues/37282017-10-09T23:53:27ZKrystinalynn Maria

This is just a suggestion to further improve the ability to customize AdiIRC. The emoticons function allows us to replace certain texts with images, while the nicklist icons function allows us to append an icon to the nicklist next to a nick that matches a hostmask. Highlight matching lines allows us to find other messages that a particular user has previously sent.

These features, while aesthetic, are powerful to assist the user in finding a member of a channel at a glance, and further find their previous messages in a busy channel.

My proposal is to allow the use of nicklist icons in a channel. They can be prepended to matching nicks in the channel, thus making it even easier to identify select members of the channel by the client user. I'd imagine this functionality wouldn't be too hard to add in, as parts of it already exists in the function I described at the beginning of this post.

In a basic implementation, the existing icons used for nicklist icons would be prepended to matching nicks in a channel, when a message is sent by that nick. In a more advanced form, additional icons could be added for other IRC events, such as echoes, notices, joins, parts, quits, etc.

If you opt to implement this function in a basic way, I'd suggest adding a simple checkbox under Options > Icons to "Use nicklist icons in channels". If you opt to implement this in a more advanced way, you might want to add additional options to the dropdown box in the Icons group box under Options > Icons. These additional options would include "Client Messages", "Connect", "Disconnect", "Echoes", "Joins", "Mode Changes", "Notices", "Parts", "Quits", and "Topic Changes".

Each of the aforementioned options would allow users to set an icon for each event that would appear in a channel, privmsg, or status window.
