what is the AdiIRC options >> DCCC behavior?
Added by Eduardo Bedoya almost 10 years ago
Hi,
could please somebody guide me where to find info about what these AdiIRC options mean?
Options >> DCCC >> Dcc Send >> Bind to Adapter or IP address >> (what is the difference between enabling it and disabling it?)
###.###.#.###
Local Area Connection (<<< what does this mean?)
Local Area Connection* 2 (<<< what does this mean?)
Wi-Fi (<<< what does this mean?)
Ethernet (<<< what does this mean?)
Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1 (<<< what does this mean?)
cuz, I was banned from an IRCchannel, and then I tried to change my IP in order to get unbanned, but it didn't work. So I tweak some of these settings above and I get unbanned.
Could please somebody tell me if these settings above can really get you unbanned from an IRC channel?
Thanks Advanced. Congrats, nice software.

It cannot get your banned or unbanned, it's just to tell AdiIRC which IP Address/Network Adapter to use when you are sending a DCC file to someone.

Thank Amundsen,
I searched more about DCC, this is what wikipedia says...
Direct Client-to-Client (DCC) is an IRC-related sub-protocol enabling peers to interconnect using an IRC server for handshaking in order to exchange files or perform non-relayed chats
So you mean, DCC is only used when transfering files from client to client? is this DCC used when log into a IRC server?
Is there a proxy option in AdiIRC? or another workaround to get unbanned or change my ip address (or other PC info) when log in??
Thanks Advanced.

Yes DCC is used to perform file transfers from client to client and is not used for IRC in any way.
There is a proxy option in Options -> Servers and it's the only way to have another IP address, besides getting a new IP from your Internet Service Provider.
I suggest trying to not get banned in the first place though :)

Sorry the option is in Options -> Proxy, surprised you didn't find it.
