Would it be possible to use UPnP for DCC sending/receiving and the Ident server?

It is possible, there is a UPnP dll you can reference in .NET, but as i know nothing about routers or UPnP, it have to wait until 1.9.

Yes, i am aware of that component, but I estimate it to be quite a lot of debugging/testing/reading since i only have one router myself and i need other persons to test from outside my network.
I would like to finish my 1.8.8 TODO before i start mess with a huge task like this, so maybe 1.8.9 :D
