Description

Hi there,

I've been using the 4.5 Beta from October 2023 since it was released, so nearly daily over 18 months.

It has crashed a total of 2 times. I have the exported Event Log entries for the crashes here. Unfortunately, that's all I have. I hope they're of use to you.

Unfortunately windows crash logs are not very useful for .NET apps, although it does mention the MCI dll, which have been causing crashes for some.

Do you have windows media player installed/enabled? If not, I would suggest installing(enabling it, it might help.

Thanks for the suggestion. The 'Media Features' Windows feature is not installed, and if at all possible I'd like to keep it that way. ;)

Is there a way to better log these crashes if they should happen again?

I don't think so, but without access to the windows media player API, adiirc will fallback to using MCI which can cause crashes for reasons unknown.

It's used for playing notification/highlight sounds and also for /splay etc. You could disable sounds if you don't use them.

Cheers, that's very useful. I remember a similar issue from Miranda NG where use of Windows audio over its BASS plugin was also discouraged.
