Event Viewer warnings when opening AdiIRC

Added by Bill Gates 6 days ago

I keep getting two errors in the event viewer when opening AdiIRC 4.5 Beta (tried latest stable release and it does the same) in Windows 11 24H2 26100.3476.

The Open procedure for service "MSDTC" in DLL "C:\WINDOWS\system32\msdtcuiu.DLL" failed with error code The system cannot find the file specified.. Performance data for this service will not be available.

and

The Open procedure for service "WmiApRpl" in DLL "C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem\wmiaprpl.dll" failed with error code The device is not ready.. Performance data for this service will not be available.

They show up every single time i open AdiIRC. Any idea what could be causing this? Googling the errors just tells me to do sfc and dism repairs, my memory is bad etc. I already tried the scans and it says nothing is missing and it isn't my memory as it does it on two different sets. It's also on a fresh install of Windows 11.

Does this program need to be run as admin? I really don't wanna run it as admin to see if the errors go away, but that is the only thing that i can think of. I just wanted to see if others had similar issues or it's just me. AdiIRC seems to be running fine even with the errors, no crashing or anything. I would still like to fine out what is causing them though.

It does not need to run as admin, not sure what this is about, never seen that before.

Maybe you have these services disabled? Or maybe your .NET Framework installation is broken somehow?

Would also be interesting to see if other .NET Framework 4.X apps works, but I can't think of any at the top of my head. Maybe look for paint.net version 4.2.16, I believe it uses it.

I'm going to be honest. I don't even know how to disable those services to do that lmao. Unless Windows disabled them? I did a repair of my .Net 9 install and it still does it. Do i have to remove SDK 9.0.202 and just install version 4 of framework? I thought it was backwards compatible so just installed the latest .net.

I couldn't find a download link of paint.net 4.2.16 that i trusted. Keepass seems to require .NET Framework 4.5 or higher and it starts with out those errors.

Prety sure that .NET 4.X is a separate install, but if keepass works, it's probably not .NET.

Not sure what exactly these dll's/services are for, but adiirc requests a lot of system information at launch, used for /sysinfo and so on, I assume it's related to that. All I can think of, maybe you have some sort of security program or other windows programs that could be interfering and/or blocking adiirc's access to these functions.

I'm just using Windows Defender and most of the built in security features in Windows 11 like Core Isolation etc. Something to do with that must be blocking it or something. I know 24H2 has been a terrible update in the gaming space and messed up a ton of games using anti-cheats, maybe it messed something up with this as well.

Maybe, would think more people would have noticed though. I'll do a clean windows 11 24H2 installation in a VM and see if I can replicate.
