Crash When Run From Network

Greetings,
I am running v1.9.6 portable on XP. When I try to start the application from a mapped network drive I get a crash, however if I simply copy the executable from my mapped drive to my local drive, it works fine. A bit of a web search seemed to produce information mostly about development rather than running applications. Is there other information I can provide that would help? Would the crash dump be of use to you?

Works fine from a mapped network drive here, what kind of network is it?

I was able to get my hands on a Win7 box this morning, from which I was able to run it from the same share/mapped drive. Clearly there is something about my XP box that is not working. I am going to setup an XP virtual machine and report back if I can find out any more.

Ahh, I found it. As soon as I installed Microsoft .NET v3.5 SP1 it worked on my XP boxes.
Is there any chance that you'll release a subsequent version which restores the .NET v2.0 requirement? If not, are you willing to make an older portable version (which does not require .NET v3.5) available?

Hmmm, perhaps that reply was a bit hasty? I guess if it works locally without .NET v3.5 then it isn't really a requirement.
However, it doesn't make sense that running from a mapped drive has additional requirements than running locally.
Are you at least able to reproduce this at your end?

It is compiled against .net 2.0.
It's possible Microsoft fixed some bugs in .net 3.5 related to file/folder permissions (.net 2.0 and 3.5 uses the same libraries).
I can replicate with XP in a virtual machine.
Ah Ha! I kept picking away at it, and it seems that if I have .NET v2.0 installed it does not work from a network share. However if I have .NET v2.0 SP2 installed it does work from a network share.
